For those of you who may ride the great bike path down the Platte Trail, the City of Sheridan just announced a detour on the Platte river, just south of Dartmouth, effective January 30th 2017 and lasting at least a couple of months. There will be a short and clearly marked new detour around the project throughout its duration.
Here are quick details:
What: The Construction Team for the DrivingChange Bond Improvements Program will temporarily close part of the South Platte River Trail in the Bottoms Neighborhood from Dartmouth Street to the Hamilton Bridge.
When: A temporary detour is scheduled to go into effect at 6 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30, 2017 and will be in place for up to two months.
Why: The Construction team is set to begin work in the Bottoms neighborhood, which requires the temporary closure and detour of this portion of South Platte River Trail.
• Bicyclists heading south on South Platte River Trail will detour over the Little Dry Creek Trail pedestrian bridge, continue south on South Platte River Drive, and return to the trail on the other side of Hamilton Bridge. **Little Dry Creek Trail pedestrian bridge crosses the Platte directly onto to the South Platte River Drive. Use caution merging into traffic.
• Bicyclists heading north on South Platte River Trail will detour at Hamilton Bridge, head north on South Platte River Drive, and return to the trail at the Little Dry Creek Trail pedestrian bridge. Use caution crossing traffic lane onto the Little Dry Creek Trail pedestrian bridge.
For your safety: Trail users are asked to please obey posted closure/detour signs. Share the road signs will be posted to ensure motorists are aware of increased bike traffic.
